MONDAY - FRIDAY
CORE MATHEMATICS
Mathematics takes mastery to understand. This means that individualized learning is important in mastering these skills. We use a combination of integrated methods to build important skills, ensure comprehension, and master problem-solving. We involve many real-life application opportunities and teach basic mathematical concepts using games and drills.
MONDAY - FRIDAY
CORE LANGUAGE ARTS
In the primary grades, we teach students how to read with a proven, mastery-based program that covers phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension where students move through the curriculum at their own pace. We focus largely on grammar and language foundations. We also spend time with reading fluency, spelling, and handwriting. As students move from learning to read to reading to learn, students move into humanities-integrated literature circles and creative, expository, and non-fiction writing.
MONDAY - WEDNESDAY
CORE HUMANITIES
We study the history of God's world and mankind. We have a four-year rotation: Ancient Times, Middle Ages, Early Modern Times, and The Modern Age. This integrated humanities core encompasses history, Shakespeare, literature, the Bible, writing, public speaking, music & art. For middle-grade students, families can determine the desired level or rigor with two options for curriculum.
TUESDAY, THURSDAYS & FRIDAYS
CORE SCIENCE
We study various scientific topics based on scientific discoveries of the period we are studying in history with a special emphasis on hands-on science experiments. We also have a weekly nature study with a strong art emphasis. Students keep a nature journal as they observe and study God’s creation.
TUESDAY - FRIDAY
WHOLE-PERSON LEARNING
We intentionally integrate music, visual art, and drama into our core classes, but offer a more intensive approach to these on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Students also participate in physical education on Thursdays and Fridays.
MONDAY, THURSDAY
CORE LATIN, GREEK AND SPANISH OR HEBREW
We teach a singing approach to learning language in the primary grades. Beginning in third grade we teach two years of the above languages. By high school, students will have strong exposure to three different languages and eight years of language exposure.
